Rhino Medical is seeking an experienced Occupational Medicine / Urgent Care Physician (MD/DO) for a locum tenens opportunity in Harlingen, Texas.

This outpatient opportunity offers weekday coverage in an established occupational health and urgent care setting, combining workplace injury treatment, employment-related physical examinations, and walk-in urgent care services.

Physicians will provide hands-on clinical care to working adults and urgent care patients while collaborating with employers, clinical staff, and occupational health teams to support safe recovery and return-to-work outcomes.

DOT Medical Examiner certification is required before the first shift. Candidates should be comfortable managing occupational injuries, performing employment-related examinations, and treating a broad range of outpatient medical conditions.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate, and treat work-related injuries and occupational illnesses
• Perform pre-placement, Department of Transportation (DOT), public safety, and medical surveillance examinations
• Evaluate and treat walk-in urgent care patients with common acute illnesses and minor injuries
• Perform appropriate in-office procedures consistent with clinical training and experience
• Assess functional capacity, work restrictions, and return-to-work readiness following occupational injuries
• Develop individualized treatment plans and coordinate appropriate follow-up care
• Communicate clinical findings, work status, and medical recommendations to employers as appropriate
• Provide medical guidance to private companies and governmental agencies regarding occupational health concerns
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies when clinically indicated
• Collaborate with clinical staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation
• Deliver professional, respectful, and patient-centered care in a fast-paced outpatient environment

Physician Qualifications

• MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Texas medical license
• DOT Medical Examiner certification required before the first shift
• Clinical experience in Occupational Medicine, Urgent Care, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or a related outpatient setting
• Experience evaluating and treating work-related injuries and common urgent care conditions
• Ability to perform occupational health examinations, including DOT and pre-employment physicals
• Competency in appropriate outpatient procedures and injury management
• Strong clinical decision-making and patient assessment skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, employers, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Commitment to timely and accurate clinical documentation
• Willingness to work the designated weekday schedule and provide coverage across two centers when required
