Mid-Level Operational Documentation Specialist

Job Summary Amentum is seeking a Mid‑Level Operational Documentation Specialist to support the SLBM / SLCM‑N Fleet‑Documentation program for SSN and SSBN submarines at our customer base in Dahlgren, VA. The role involves learning advanced weapon systems, researching technologies, and developing procedures that contribute to the Navy’s new systems. Responsibilities Advise, manage and mentor personnel in the technical documentation function. Interface with engineers and Fleet personnel to edit and publish documents such as Fleet Documentation, Operating Procedures, and Targeting Tactics for the Strategic Weapons System. Oversee the development of operational procedures and track all documents from inception to final distribution. Identify and correct problem areas, providing final quality assurance checks for all deliverables. Use computer software for document text production and implement electronic documentation practices. Maintain electronic and/or hard‑copy data libraries of documents. Generate documents independently to support research and development scientists and engineers. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline; orfour (4) years of relevant subject‑matter expertise; or US Naval operational experience at the E4 level or higher. At least six years of hands‑on experience operating and maintaining Strategic Weapon System equipment aboard SSBN or SSN/SSGN submarines. Experience developing and maintaining Operating Procedures, Standard Maintenance Procedures, Casualty Procedures, Corrective Maintenance Procedures, and related reference documentation to keep the SWS ready for deployment. Demonstrated knowledge of the documentation supporting the strategic, combat, and weapon systems, including targeting, operational, and training documentation. Active SECRET US Government Clearance. US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Fire Control Technician (FTG) with SSN Tomahawk experience or Missile Technician with SSBN/SSGN experience in weapons‑system operation and safety procedures. Compensation US: $90,000 to $106,000. The exact salary will depend on factors such as geography, skills, education, and experience.
