Usually an entry level supervisor position.Essential functions and responsibilities:Manage field crew in day-to-day production of projectsExhibit a high level of safety consciousness and a clear understanding of equipment safetyOrder tools and equipmentInterpret blueprints/plans and construct accordinglyParticipate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goalsProvide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skillPerform other duties as assignedComply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to the supervisor and/or Human ResourcesRequirements:Five (5) years of experience managing dirt crews on highway projectsLift, push, or pull and move up to seventy (70) poundsClimb, kneel, twist, and bend in various environmentsManual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingersDemonstrated experience in utility work supervision to include gravity sewer, sewer force main, storm drain and waterline (NNWW preferably)Responsibilities to include but not limited to everyday operations for pipe installation from approved plans, planning and procuring materials for work, coordinating staff, working with owner representatives, and implementing a safe workplace.Be able to communicate in English via verbal and written communicationsValid driver license for occasional, required travelAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsAbility to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variablesAbility to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projectsWork outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and windSafety Policies and Practices : The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual.Education: less than High School Diploma.Language Skills:Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.Ability to print and speak simple sentences.Experience: Minimum 0-3 years of related construction experience preferred.Physical Activity Level: Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Able to perceive attributes of objects and materials.Working Conditions: Outdoor exposure to changing weather conditions (rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.).Work Environment: The work environment/physical demands characteristics described here are representative of those the employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
