Student Nurse Aide- Medical/ Surgical- 3N

Kaweah Health – Student Nurse Aide position in Medical/Surgical Unit 3N. Work Shift: Day, 12‑Hour Shift. Department: 6172 Medical/Surgical‑3N. Pay Range: $20.38 – $20.38 per hour. Responsibilities Maintain the college/university student skills competency checklist available at all times while working as an SNA. Report any variance in the patient's condition to licensed staff. Report specific patient or family needs, concerns, and changes in activity to licensed staff. Refer complaints and problems to licensed staff or department manager immediately. Answer patient call lights within two minutes as assigned. Greet patients and family members in a friendly, professional manner. Identify self by name and job category. Assist patients with their needs as assigned. Participate actively in achieving quality patient care. Maintain confidentiality with all patient care issues. Comply with current policies and procedures including safety and infection control. Perform tasks safely. Assist nursing staff with tasks delegated by the Registered Nurse. Provide for the toilet needs of patients by emptying bedpans and drainage containers; report any variation in amount, color, consistency, and odor of output to the RN. Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients; orient patients to room (call light, storage of belongings, etc.). Assist patients with meals, snacks, and water pitchers. Assist with activities of daily living: bath, ambulation, oral care, etc. Collect and record intake and output, weight, height, and vital signs as delegated by the RN; collect respiratory rate by direct observation. Collect, label, and deliver specimens. Provide post‑mortem care and assist in transporting the body to the morgue. Assist with emergency care by participating in crash cart checks, providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and responding to Code Blue. Handle personal property of the patient with great care. Maintain a clean, safe, and neat patient environment. Keep all required certifications current and document all care provided in the EMR as soon as possible. Pediatrics Specific Responsibilities Perform Unit Secretary duties for the unit. Obstetrics Specific Responsibilities Stock IV fluids and irrigation fluids in locked supply drawers on the mother/baby unit. Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served, and understand growth and development, cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications License / Certification Required: BLS. Preferred: Current California Certified Nursing Assistant certification. Education Required: Current enrollment in an accredited RN program with successful completion of at least one semester. Employee must submit updated transcript to HR each term and notify Manager and HR of any changes in nursing program enrollment. Work Study course is required only if the nursing student is seeking course credit for the learning experience or during the summer if their nursing program is not in session. #J-18808-Ljbffr
