Vanderbilt's mission is to advance health and wellness through preeminent programs in patient care, education, and research.CSP Endo TechsSupervises Sterile Processing functions by ensuring the accurate assembly of instrument trays and/or equipment; use of the instrument tracking system and by maintaining adequate sterilization of instruments and/or equipment by preparation of requested instrumentation and/or equipment for surgical procedures. Provides supervision to staff to ensure departmental guidelines are followed and assigned tasks are timely and accurately completed.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervises the central sterile processing and endoscopy tech specialist staff to ensure department and hospital guidelines are adhered and followed.Conducts verbal and written performance conversations with staff following departmental and institutional policies.Ensures implementation of standards within the quality assurance monitoring process and improvements are followed.Oversees ordering of departmental supplies, instrumentation and equipment needs.Coordinates shift schedules, performs electronic timekeeping and assigns job responsibilities based on departmental staffing need.Analyzes the rules and regulations for situations that are unusual and knows the interrelationship and implication of various rules and regulations in other areas of the department.Monitors staff orientation and training instructions for new personnel.Technical CapabilitiesEnvironmental Sterility & Safety (Intermediate): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate environmental sterility and safety in practical applications of moderate difficulty.Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Intermediate): Knowledge of the specific equipment and its performance criteria, capabilities and limitations. Able to use the equipment to accomplish basic tasks associated with the specific devices. May conduct remedial maintenance and preventive maintenance. Examples of this include Insulation Testing, Demagnetizing instrumentation, Air Pressure Testing etc.Equipment Operation and Maintenance (Intermediate): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to maintain equipment, products, or systems in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Examples of this include performing variety qualification testing on different types of equipment (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)Inventory Control (Intermediate): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate inventory control in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Ability to perform a variety of care and handling techniques to maintain the longevity and sterility of different types of containment devices.Quality Assurance (Intermediate): Performs, documents and monitors all quality control tools. Ability to read, interpret and practically apply the various Manufacturer Instructions for Use. Possess a strong knowledge base of regulations and standards that govern sterile processing functions and operations.Distinguishing skill set (Intermediate): Strong knowledge automatic endoscope preprocessors (AER), Various methods of manual HLDAllied health is among the fastest growing occupations in healthcare today.
