About the Role

The Baler Operator is responsible for machinery that compresses and binds recyclable materials into bales for easy storage and transportation. This position requires the operator to monitor the machine's performance and make necessary adjustments to ensure quality and safety standards are met. The Baler Operator is responsible for conducting basic preventative maintenance and inspections of the machine, ensuring it is in proper working order.

Shift: Monday-Friday 6AM-2:30PM (Job Type: Full-time) | Location: Hillburn, NY (Rockland) | Pay Rate: $26.18

Responsibilities

• Monitor the flow of materials ensuring they are loaded correctly into the baler
• Performs duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
• Operates industrial balers and automated bunker system in the recycling plant.
• Performs all assigned basic preventative maintenance on industrial balers and associated equipment.
• Makes minor repairs and adjustments to industrial balers and associated equipment.
• Operates computer controlled automated bunker system.
• Properly utilize balers and bunkers to ensure single stream processing is not interrupted.
• Responsible for housekeeping in assigned area including equipment and work areas.
• Maintain timely, appropriate, and professional communications with plan operations, maintenance department, and baler supervisor.
• Provide daily baler production reports to plan operations.

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Performs duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.

Preferred Job Qualifications

• Must be able to read, speak, and write basic Spanish/English
• Mechanical aptitude
• Previous experience operating industrial machinery
• Experience in the Recycling industry preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.

• Regular use hands and fingers to handle or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms
• Exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
• Exposure to residential and commercial recyclables and waste.
• Ability to work flexible hours; overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license (if applicable).
