Job Description Supervisor, Laboratory, College of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Category Charles River Campus --> Professional Job Location BOSTON, MA, United States Position Type Full-Time/Regular Salary Grade Grade 47 ($62,525.00-$81,500.00) Responsibilities Overseeing daily operations, safety, and technical functionality of EPIC. Conducting seminars, workshops and programs for students on various aspects of hardware prototyping. Meeting one-on-one with students, faculty, or staff for design and manufacturing reviews. Assisting in the maintenance of equipment and ensuring a safe learning environment. Required Skills Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in a fabrication lab, machine shop, makerspace, or similar environment. Demonstrated knowledge of shop safety standards and regulatory compliance. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with a digital workflow (CAD / CAM / CNC). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or related technical field. Experience managing academic lab or makerspace operations. Experience developing training programs or instructional materials. Familiarity with emerging technologies in product development and innovation. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Regular work in a fabrication lab environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required. Frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff across the College of Engineering and the broader university.
