About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to play a pivotal role in its national movement to provide home libraries for every child. The CFO will be responsible for building and owning the financial infrastructure to support the organization's ambitious growth, including developing P&L frameworks, leading the annual budgeting process, and ensuring financial forecasts are communicated effectively. This role demands a leader who is both a financial architect and a people leader, with a focus on delivering rigor in financial management and leading a high-functioning team. The ideal candidate will have a CPA designation or equivalent, at least 12 years' of financial leadership experience, and a proven track record in nonprofit finance. Key responsibilities for the CFO at the company include overseeing all accounting software, directing the annual audit and 990 filing process, and providing high-level financial analysis to the C-Suite and Board. The successful candidate will be adept at translating complex financial concepts into plain language, have a strong background in cash management and investment portfolio oversight, and be experienced in long-term fiscal health strategies. The CFO will also be expected to actively participate in C-Suite meetings, contribute to the organization's DEBI commitments, and engage in professional development. The role requires a strategic thinker with a commitment to the organization's vision of literacy and justice for all, and the ability to adapt financial systems as the organization evolves.
