1B Asphalt Quality Control Technician

Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor, operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. We pride ourselves in being a family-oriented organization with a goal of upholding the safety and health of our number one asset, our employees. Position OverviewThe Quality Control Technician will work with the Quality Control Team to ensure products stay in compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance. The ideal candidate is familiar with Excel, Outlook, Word and other software systems and has a thorough understanding of Asphalt Paving & Construction. Key Responsibilities Inspect, sample, and test aggregates, asphalt, or other materials for the purpose of quality control.Sample and test mixtures to stay in compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance.Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure our products meet or exceed requirements of the appropriate agency or customer.Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results database.Follow quality control plans and guidelines as assigned.Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.Perform general cleaning of work areas daily. Qualifications2+ years experienceAsphalt Paving & Construction Experience required.Must be organized with a detail-oriented mindset.Must be positive, friendly and professional.Ability to work well with others in a group or one-on-one settingBe available for overtime, extended hours and weekends as requiredPromote, execute and adhere to the company's safety policy, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas.Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required. Knowledge/Skill RequirementsExcel, Outlook, Word, and other computer operating systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to perform multiple tasks effectively with a focus on timeliness and responsiveness.Ability to deal with the public in a pleasant, courteous, and calm manner in all circumstances.Ability to work under pressure and be multi-task oriented.Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards and their impact on project activities.Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) essential.Ability to organize the data received and streamline the process of proposed job duties Working ConditionsBe available for overtime, extended hours, overnight, and weekends as requiredWork is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.Proper PPE is required at all times. BenefitsThis position is FULL TIMEThe pay structure for this role will be based on competitive hourly rateThis position will qualify for the employee benefit programComprehensive medical, dental and disability benefits programs401k retirement planEmployee Stock Purchase Plan The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
