Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Acoustic Analyst level 3 or 4 to support the development and ongoing support of world‑class US Navy machinery (turbines, generators, motors, and other system components based out of Sunnyvale, CA. What You’ll Get To Do Use classical analysis techniques to establish an understanding of machinery acoustic performance and resolve issues. Develop a variety of component and system level predictive/simulation models. Perform modal, vibration, modal, direct frequency response, and sound transmission analyses to predict performance and resolve issues. Gather data from tests and analyze the results. Correlate model predictions to test data to validate the approach/model. Collaborate with cross‑functional internal and customer teams, produce technical reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for diverse stakeholders, and represent the team in customer‑facing presentations. Prior acoustic analysis experience is not required for this role. Exposure to Finite Element Modeling is preferred. Basic Qualifications For Acoustic Analyst Level 3 Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 5 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience; or Ph.D. in STEM with no relevant work experience. Experience with simulation software tools: Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, MATLAB (or similar). Experience with presenting to diverse stakeholders. Must be a US citizen. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Basic Qualifications For Acoustic Analyst Level 4 Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 7 years relevant work experience; or Master’s Degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience; or Ph.D. in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience. Experience with simulation software tools: Hypermesh, Nastran, Abaqus, MATLAB (or similar). Experience with presenting to diverse stakeholders. Must be a US citizen. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience in developing system‑level finite element models. Experience in performing a classical and finite element analysis solution types. Experience collecting and analyzing large data sets. Experience with presenting to customer technical results and recommendations. Salary Information Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00. Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00.
