Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician – Weekend Shift Job Description

The Industrial Maintenance Technician – Weekend Shift is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery and equipment in a production facility. Using hoists, forklifts, hand tools, and power tools, this role involves moving, assembling, installing, and disassembling machinery as needed. The technician diagnoses and resolves both electrical and mechanical issues, performs preventative maintenance to reduce downtime, and supports safe and efficient production operations. This position requires a strong dual skill set across electrical and mechanical disciplines, with a consistent focus on safety and adherence to established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain, and repair industrial machinery and equipment using hoists, forklifts, hand tools, and power tools.
• Move, assemble, install, and disassemble machinery and equipment as required for production needs and facility projects.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues, including identifying faulty components and repairing or replacing parts.
• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all production equipment and facility systems to minimize equipment failures and extend asset life.
• Assist with equipment setup and production start-up, ensuring machines and systems are ready for safe and efficient operation.
• Conduct daily preventative maintenance inspections and accurately document work orders, findings, and repairs performed.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE, pre-job hazard assessments, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work protocols, hazardous and confined space procedures, line breaking, and safe work practices.
• Implement and follow equipment isolation procedures to ensure safe maintenance and repair activities.
• Work cross-functionally with other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules, planned downtime, and repair activities to support production goals.
• Remain knowledgeable about current safety standards, policies, and procedures and consistently apply them in all tasks.
• Promptly identify, report, and help address safety concerns, near misses, and workplace incidents.
• Contribute ideas and actively support initiatives that strengthen and improve the company’s safety culture.
• Use cutting tools such as cutting torches, band saws, cutting wheels, and grinding machines to fabricate, modify, or repair components.
• Perform mechanical troubleshooting on equipment, including motors, gearboxes, bearings, and related mechanical systems.
• Conduct basic electrical work such as unwiring and rewiring motors and using a voltmeter to test and verify electrical conditions.
• Operate mobile equipment such as fork trucks to move materials and equipment safely within the facility.
• Support troubleshooting activities involving PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure gauges, and temperature transmitters, as experience allows.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring tools and equipment are stored properly after use.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated ability to perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on industrial production equipment.
• Proficiency in cutting operations using torch, band saw, cutting wheel, and grinder.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for diagnosing issues with motors, gearboxes, bearings, and related components.
• Ability to identify and correctly use a wide range of hand tools and power tools.
• Experience unwiring and rewiring motors in an industrial setting.
• Ability to use a voltmeter safely and accurately to test electrical circuits and components.
• Knowledge and practical application of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Capability to perform preventative maintenance tasks and follow structured maintenance schedules.
• Experience operating fork trucks in a production or industrial environment.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow safety policies, work instructions, and maintenance documentation.
• Strong commitment to safety, including consistent use of PPE and adherence to safe work practices.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and report maintenance activities.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform standing, walking, climbing, and other movements required in an industrial environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience changing motors and gearboxes on industrial equipment.
• Ability to replace bearings and perform bearing maintenance.
• Stick and MIG welding experience for fabrication and repair work.
• Experience replacing photo eyes and speed switches on production machinery.
• Understanding and troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFDs).
• PLC troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Experience working with instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure gauges, and temperature transmitters.
• Familiarity with equipment such as belt conveyors, bucket elevators, crushers, and screeners.
• Experience operating additional mobile equipment such as man basket lifts, scissor lifts, telehandlers (lull), and Bobcats.
• Strong safety knowledge and awareness, with the ability to perform pre-job hazard assessments.
• Attention to detail in documenting maintenance work orders and inspection reports.

Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial production facility and involves regular standing, walking, sitting, and frequent use of hands for handling tools and equipment. Employees frequently reach with hands and arms, climb, and communicate with team members, and occasionally kneel, crouch, or perform other physical movements. The position requires lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds and working around moving mechanical parts, equipment, and potential exposure to chemicals. The environment may include varying noise levels and temperature changes typical of industrial operations. Team members must wear required PPE at all times, including company-provided uniforms, safety glasses, and other protective equipment as needed, and maintain a strong focus on safety and situational awareness while performing their duties.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70815.00 - $70815.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
