Assistant Branch Manager

We believe in empowering our employees to make meaningful contributions, both inside the workplace and out in the community.Essential DutiesAssists the Branch Manager in the management and leadership of the Branch Office. Performs a variety of duties in order to meet the financial and loan services needs of customers in the assigned community market area of which the following are illustrative:Works with Branch Manager is establishing growth, sales, and profit objectives for the office; provides input to these objectives and to the manner in which performance will be measured and controlled.Ensures that the Branch Office is properly staffed and that the staff is trained to meet customer service needs as well as sales objectives.Makes certain that all office operations are performed in accordance with established Bank policies and procedures, either directly or through appropriate manager, e.g., office balancing, control of vault cash, Fed cash ordering/shipping, quarterly PB drawer & vault audits, weekly balancing of ATM, etc.Provides for the proper security, maintenance, and cleanliness of the office; supervises the opening and closing of the building and vault; makes necessary provisions for the securing and accounting of negotiable papers.In consultation with the Branch Manager, oversees the daily performance with regards to specific sales and customer service goals for each member of the branch team.Manages and develops all customer service personnel by providing guidance, direction, leadership and training with respect to the Bank, position, industry, and product knowledge, as well as customer service skills.Ensures that all sales and customer service reporting information is provided on a timely basis including but not limited to reviewing daily FED returns & branch NSF decisions.Serves as an active member of the office customer service team.If needed, makes external sales and customer service calls to present and prospective customers within the office’s market area.Actively participates in the community in a manner that reflects favorably on the Bank when needed.Provides direct service to customers of the Bank with respect to loan products and services; processes loan applications and forward to Mortgage Underwriting for approval or denial.Being ultimately responsible for past due and charged off loans, will assist the Resource Recovery Department in the collection process.Conducts loan interviews with prospective loan customers, counsels’ prospective customers on loan requirements and bank lending policies.Implements strategies to achieve goals assigned to the office as established in the Branch Administration Department’s annual operating plan, assists in the development of the annual budget for the office and adheres to budget parameters.Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the Bank’s compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.; ensures that the department and all personnel adhere to the same.Performs various duties associated with a Customer Service Specialist & Personal Bankers on a daily basis. (See Job Descriptions)Directly supervises assigned personnel as follows:Assists in the selection of new personnel as appropriate.Reviews employee performance throughout the probationary period and on a regularly scheduled basis thereafter.Makes provisions for the proper orientation, training & development of all personnel.Coaches and mentors staff as needed; upholds CSB culture and values.Organizes, schedules and distributes work among assigned personnel.Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting the office and/or their jobs, create an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged.Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by Bank policy.Communicates with the Branch Manager, other managers, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.Provides periodic reports to the Branch Manager, and other groups as required throughout the Bank.As part of our commitment to serving the local market, team members are encouraged to actively participate in bank-sponsored community events and volunteer initiatives.Ancillary DutiesPerforms tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed upon individual circumstancesBasic QualificationsEducation/Training: Education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent preferred; specialized banking education and training.Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; demonstrated management, leadership and supervisory skills; consumer lending within loan policy guidelines; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures; visual and auditory skills; valid driver’s license.Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ related experience is normally required.General ResponsibilitiesResponsible for assisting the Branch Manager in the management of leadership of the Branch Office in order to meet the financial services needs of customers in the assigned community market area; implementing strategies to achieve goals developed for the office as part of the Branch Administration Department’s annual operating plan; ensuring the office’s compliance with operating policies and procedures and outside regulatory requirements; directly supervising assigned personnel; communicating with appropriate management and staff personnel; providing periodic reports. Responsible for cross-selling investment and insurance products provided by the Bank and its subsidiaries.
