The job of a Custodian is to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean place to learn, play, and develop.

Responsibilities: An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch.

Additional physical requirements may include the following:

Physically capable of lifting or moving heavy objects.

Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students.

Ability move and stand for extended periods.

Manual dexterity to move items around as needed.

Ability to understand written instructions and checklists

Effectively communicate needs to Administration

Performs other related duties, as assigned by the administrative team, to ensure the efficient, effective functioning of the school environment.

Working Environment: This position requires the following physical demands: Cleaning, significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and fine finger dexterity.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required

Previous custodial and grounds experience required

Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks

Possess working knowledge of the methods, techniques, and materials used in custodial work

Ability to climb ladders and work from heights

Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
