Speech Language Pathologist - Inpatient - TFP

Position Objective: Evaluates pediatric through geriatric patients for Speech Language Pathology services providing therapeutic intervention specific to the individual needs of the patient. Completes interventions and documentation according to regulatory and departmental standards. Essential Job Duties Conduct therapy evaluations and treatments using a variety of appropriate treatment techniques and document according to established departmental policies and procedures. Participate in department or hospital initiatives for the community as appropriate. Demonstrate the ability and required competencies to cross cover by evaluating and treating patients with a variety of diagnoses in various units. Participate in departmental process improvement initiatives (huddles, metrics, and innovative ideas). Meet departmental productivity standards and complete productivity logs in a timely manner. Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives, engaging in excellent customer service practices, including but not limited to following ICARE. Actively participate in interdisciplinary meetings, departmental in‑service activities, evidence‑based journal article review, and/or AAMC‑funded continuing education courses. Provide technical supervision, direction, and support to staff Therapist Assistants, Rehab Aides, students, and volunteers. Consult with and serve as a resource for physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of therapy services. Demonstrate ability to use clinical decision‑making skills to triage caseload and problem‑solve patient care issues. Function as a therapy leader performing administrative tasks as needed (e.g., patient scheduling, completing predictive staffing matrix). Educational/Experience Requirements Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology. Acute care or related experience preferred; however, new graduates will be considered depending on current departmental staffing. Required License/Certifications Current license in Speech‑Language Pathology by the Maryland Board of Audiology/Hearing Aid Dispensers/Speech and Language Pathologists. Current Certificate of Clinical Competence with the American Speech‑Language Hearing Association. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.
