Title Examiner - Midwest States

Salary: $110,000 - 150,000 per year Requirements:

• We prefer familiarity with title searching software such as DataTree, DATA Trace, FASTSearch, and county websites.
• We require prior title examination experience in MN, WI, IL, MO, KS, or NE.
• We need knowledge of underwriting policies and guidelines for the specified states.
• We expect knowledge of real estate law and title/escrow curative procedures.

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Specialized training in word processing, database, or spreadsheet software is desirable.
• A minimum of four years of industry experience is required.
• We need the ability to define problems, gather information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• We expect the ability to solve practical problems and work through varied situations with limited standardization.
• We need the ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule-based instructions.

• We examine title orders within our guidelines to determine title condition and insurability by reviewing deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, assessments, probates, and other recorded matters.
• We prepare accurate and comprehensive title commitments in line with our examining and policy procedures.
• We research title plant software and analyze relevant records to determine ownership, legal description, and title connections.
• We explain the chain of title, exceptions, and requirements to customers and managers.
• We identify title defects and develop curative solutions.
• We assess risks and liabilities that may affect our company and escalate concerns to the local title manager, state title manager, or underwriter as appropriate.
• We maintain required production levels and delivery standards each day.
• We work closely with customers and management to meet turnaround requirements and answer questions.
• We perform other duties assigned by management.
• We participate in special projects and other miscellaneous assignments as needed.
