Vice President, Global Research, Development & Therapeutic Area Public Affairs

This Vice President role leads global public affairs strategy for Gilead's research and development organization, serving as senior counsel to R&D leadership on reputation, regulatory readiness, and communications. The position oversees integrated internal and external communications for pipeline milestones and regulatory events while building and managing a specialized team across discovery, clinical development, and related functions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated internal and external communications strategy for R&D organization
• Lead communications for product development and regulatory milestones including trials, approvals, and safety events
• Shape enterprise R&D narrative translating complex science into stakeholder-specific messaging
• Own issues management and crisis preparedness for R&D-related topics with real-time counsel
• Enable internal communications and leadership engagement on R&D strategy and organizational changes

Requirements

• Senior leadership experience in public affairs, communications, or related function
• Deep knowledge of pharmaceutical R&D, clinical development, and regulatory processes
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences
• Experience managing cross-functional teams and leading high-stakes communications
• Crisis management and issues management expertise
• Strategic counsel capability with C-suite and senior executives
