Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU night shift position requiring at least 1 year of stepdown/telemetry experience and an active IN or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in a 26-bed Stepdown/Intermediate Care unit within a hospital setting
• Care for a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro/stroke, dialysis, post-operative, respiratory, and general med/surg overflow patients
• Manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring, IV drips, central lines, PICC lines, and oxygen therapy including CPAP/BiPAP
• Night shift schedule from 18:00-06:30
• 13-week assignment length
• May float to other med/surg units as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (IN or compact) currently in hand
• Current AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of stepdown/PCU nursing experience required
• Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Must provide a valid US Social Security Number and US home address for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct care for medically complex patients requiring frequent monitoring and specialized interventions
• Perform comprehensive assessments including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results, notifying providers of changes in condition
• Administer medications safely, including IV medications, per physician orders and hospital policy
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, case management, and other disciplines
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the EMR
• Recognize early signs of patient deterioration and escalate care or activate rapid response as needed
• Adhere to infection prevention, fall precaution, and patient safety protocols
• Radius rule applies, allowing local candidates consideration at a reduced rate depending on facility location
• Candidates should begin discussing extension opportunities with management approximately 45 days before assignment end date
