Maintenance MechanicThe University of Miami/UHealth department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Maintenance Mechanic to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Maintenance Mechanic - Central (H) constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components to maintain the physical assets of the institution in good working order.Responsibilities include:Greases, lubricates and replaces filters in air and hydraulic systems.Performs inspections and repairs of equipment and completes scheduled maintenance.Diagnoses problems and makes adjustments or reports situations to proper managing staff.Prepares and maintains records and reports.Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders.Orders necessary parts and equipment from vendors and suppliers.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.Department Specific Functions include:Provide proper care, preventative maintenance, and repair maintenance of building surfaces, building structures, hardware, furniture and fixtures in assigned areas.Initiate work orders to appropriate maintenance personnel when the nature of the work is beyond the mechanic's capability. Assists with the completion of the work as required.Replace broken glass inside doors, windows and partitions.Replace light bulbs and fluorescent tubes that custodian personnel cannot reach without scaffolding or ladders 6 feet or smaller.Replace faucet washers and flush valves; repairs minor plumbing leaks; unclogs drains with snakes and plumber helpers; and other plumbing duties.Replace broken commode seats, tissue, towel, and soap dispensers, repair bathroom partitions, and mirrors.Repair or replace damaged ceiling, wall, floor, and window coverings, including minor plaster work.Adjust and repair all door hardware, including the door closure and locks.Repair furniture and fixtures.Inspect fire extinguishers and replace units that are out-of-date, discharged or damaged with fully charged units.Perform minor carpentry work such as hanging mirrors and pictures, installing shelves, tightening loose signs and supports, repair handrails, trim wood doors, etc.Paint areas that require no more than two hours to paint.Perform minor electrical maintenance such as replacing light switches, ballasts, light fixtures, wall outlets, replacing fuses, etc. Conducts routine building inspections.Conducts periodic inspections of roofs and performs minor roof repairs.
