About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Acute - Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with general medical, neuro, ortho, and surgical patients Description: The unit comprises 34 beds. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 4-5 patients per registered nurse. This may go up to 6 patients depending on needs, call-ins, or extreme situations. There are primary charge nurses for day and night shifts. Patient care technicians are present, with 1 PCT for every 8-10 patients. Respiratory therapy handles all respiratory equipment. The unit is equipped for telemetry monitoring. Registered nurses are responsible for reading strips. Shifts are 12 hours long, with day and night positions available. Every third weekend is required. There is a holiday rotation with every third holiday requirement. There is no call or standby requirement. Floating to other units may occur on occasion. Any color scrubs are acceptable for the dress code. Orientation weeks vary based on experience, lasting from 4-10 weeks for new hires.
