Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU). This unit specializes in the care of medically complex and critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and treatment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to patients with respiratory failure, cardiac arrest, organ failure, and other critical conditions.
• Manage noninvasive and mechanical ventilation procedures.
• Assist in various procedures such as bedside central and arterial line placements, chest tube placements, rapid sequence intubation, and thoracentesis.
• Participate in code blue situations and deliver timely interventions in emergency circumstances.
• Utilize team support by collaborating with a CNA assigned to each shift.
• Adhere to an established patient-to-nurse ratio, with the potential for increased ratios during high census periods.
• Be prepared to float to telemetry units as needed depending on patient census.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license with at least 2 years of clinical experience.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Availability to work weekends and floated assignments as required.
• Guaranteed hours of 60 hours per two-week period.

Unit Overview

The MICU is a high-acuity, fast-paced environment where nurses provide critical care to patients. Common diagnoses include various shock states, COVID-19, ARDS, and DKA among others. The team operates under a commitment to high standards of patient care in a challenging setting.

Work Schedule

The position requires a shift of 3X12 hours on day shifts, typically from 06:30 to 19:00. Some flexibility in scheduling will be necessary, with the opportunity for two requests for time off pre-approved for auto offer.

Additional Information

• Scrub color is flexible, except for reddish orange.
• Charting will be performed using EPIC systems.
• Parking will be covered for staff.
