Essential Functions
The School of Accounting (SoA) in the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Auditing to begin in Spring 2027 or August 2027. Applicants should demonstrate expertise in auditing, data analytics, and the application of emerging technologies, including AI, in assurance and financial reporting contexts. Current and future undergraduate and Master of Accounting (MAcc) programs require sustained coverage in auditing, accounting analytics, and technology-enabled assurance to meet evolving workforce demands and align with institutional priorities in innovation and digital transformation. The new hire will teach undergraduate and MAcc courses in auditing while contributing to the development of specialized coursework that integrates AI, data analytics, and emerging technologies into the accounting curriculum. This position will play a key role in advancing innovative curricular initiatives designed to position UNO as a leader in accounting education within the state of Nebraska. The new hire will be expected to maintain an active research agenda in auditing or related areas. A focused research stream will enhance the SoA's academic reputation, support industry engagement, and create opportunities for collaboration with practitioners and interdisciplinary partners. The new hire will support long-term capacity building through sustained scholarship, curriculum development, and student mentorship. UNO is a Carnegie doctoral/research institution with a strong metropolitan mission. The College of Business Administration maintains AACSB accreditation, and the School of Accounting maintains AACSB supplemental accounting accreditation. The new hire will join a collegial, research-active department dedicated to high-quality scholarship, teaching excellence, and community engagement. The School of Accounting delivers undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for careers in public accounting, industry, and government. The curriculum emphasizes technical competence, ethical decision-making, and adaptability in a rapidly changing profession. Faculty engage with industry partners through applied research, professional outreach, and experiential learning initiatives, consistent with the strategic priorities of UNO and the University of Nebraska System. • Support UNO's metropolitan mission through community partnerships, applied research, and engagement with regional industry. Required Qualifications
(1) PhD with specialization in accounting or taxation (ABDs considered), or combination of graduate degrees in law and accounting (one degree must be terminal) (2) Evidence of the potential for teaching excellence in accounting (3) Clearly defined research agenda and evidence of interest in and ability to conduct high-quality research.
