Aerospace CNC Production Team Lead

Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Schedule: 2nd Shift
Compensation: $37–$47 per hour, plus overtime and bonus potential
Industry: Aerospace precision machining (direct hire via TekPro)

Day in the Life

When you arrive for 2nd shift, your team of machinists and operators is ready. You start with a quick huddle: priorities, safety reminders, and schedule targets. You check work-in-process, verify tooling is set for upcoming CNC milling and turning jobs, and coordinate deburr, light assembly, and inspection so throughput stays on track.

On the floor, you troubleshoot a surface finish concern, review a blueprint with a machinist to clarify GD&T callouts, and partner with Quality to confirm compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements. You keep an eye on takt times and bottlenecks, make real-time labor adjustments, and ensure documentation is complete. Before handing off to leadership and engineering, you close the loop with a concise shift report and align on next-run priorities.

What You’ll Lead

• Supervise machinists, operators, and secondary personnel during 2nd shift
• Own production flow, throughput, and on-time schedule adherence
• Support CNC milling, turning, deburr, assembly, and in-process/first-article inspection
• Troubleshoot production and quality issues at the machine and process level
• Maintain safety standards and AS9100 compliance
• Drive training, accountability, and continuous improvement on the shop floor
• Coordinate detailed shift handoffs with engineering, quality, and leadership

What You Bring

• 5+ years in CNC machining leadership or supervision
• Hands-on expertise with milling, turning, and aerospace machining practices
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T
• Background in AS9100 or high-mix manufacturing environments preferred
• Clear, confident floor leadership and strong communication skills
