We are pioneering innovation and paving a better tomorrow with factory automation solutions worldwide.**Summary:**Carpenter is responsible for auditing the picklist against the parts presented to ensure order accuracy. Carpenter will determine size of crate needed. Select the appropriate lumber materials (pick plywood sheets and dimensional lumber) and cut to appropriate size. Safely load crate, brace parts and protect against moisture (as needed). Weigh crate, log and complete paperwork. Place complete crate and paperwork in shipping area so shipper can process BOL (Bill of Lading).**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*** Audit the order against the pick list – requiring high attention to detail. Match part numbers and quantity accurately. Determine the appropriate shipping method to ensure correct packaging methods and weights are considered* Build Crate: Determine the required crate size by measuring largest pieces and estimating the overall dimensions of crate* Select lumber needed and cut to size. Assemble crate, add parts to crate ensuring proper fit* Take pictures of the parts on the order prior to loading crate, and take pictures as each layer is created in the crate* Secure the parts in the crate by blocking and bracing parts to prevent shifting during transit. Ensure lighter weight parts are on top* Use rust inhibitor for metal parts that are not painted and protect parts that have delicate surfaces* Operate forklift to move crates and stock lumber or other supplies in the carpenter shop* Construct shop pallets using the provided jig* Other duties as assigned**Non-Essential Job Functions*** Assist loading crew by building crates and skids when time allows* Assist shipping desk by packing cardboard boxes when needed**Qualifications:**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Performs tool maintenance by changing out saw blades, filters, jams, and adjusting stop brakes7. Knowledge of basic print reading***Abilities-***1. Participates on problem solving teams2. Ability to switch jobs in a moment’s notice and start on different project or order3. Ability to cross train into other areas as company requires for back up4. Ability to foster and work within a team environment5. Actively practices safety and participates in safety programs, while complying with all Columbia safety policies6. Ability to follow written and verbal instruction7. Ability to simultaneously work on multiple projects at one time8. Willingness to work extended hours to meet company needs9. Maintains a clean and safe work area10. Displays attention to detail and consistently follows Standard Work Instructions (when available) when completing tasks11. Communicates well with peers, supervisor, customers, vendors, and other departments12. Actively participates in Columbia Idea System, 6S, and other CI efforts**Education and/or Experience:**1.
