Senior Wide Area Network (WAN) Administrator (Government)

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located at customer’s site. AT&T is hiring to support a US Government Program that provides IT Services to US Strategic Command located in Omaha Nebraska. Job Duties/Responsibilities Network Design and Implementation : Design, implement, and optimize WAN solutions to ensure reliable and efficient connectivity across multiple locations. Configuration Management : Configure and manage WAN devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and other network hardware. Monitoring and Troubleshooting : Continuously monitor WAN performance, identify issues, and perform advanced troubleshooting to resolve network problems promptly. Security Management : Implement and maintain network security measures to protect data transmitted across the WAN. This includes setting up VPNs, encryption, and access controls. Performance Optimization : Analyze network traffic and optimize WAN performance to ensure high availability and minimal latency. Documentation and Reporting : Maintain detailed documentation of the WAN infrastructure, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Generate regular reports on network performance and health. Collaboration : Work closely with other IT teams, including LAN administrators, server administrators, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration and operation of the network. Upgrades and Maintenance : Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities to keep the WAN infrastructure up-to-date and secure. Vendor Management : Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for network services, equipment, and support. Disaster Recovery : Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure network resiliency and business continuity in case of network failures or emergencies. Required Clearance TS/SCI (#tssci) Required Qualifications Experience : Several years of experience in network administration, with a focus on WAN technologies and infrastructure. Certifications : Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), or similar credentials. Technical Skills : Proficiency in configuring and managing WAN technologies, including MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VPNs, and SD‑WAN solutions. Strong understanding of networking protocols and standards. Problem‑Solving : Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex network issues. Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, stakeholders, and external vendors. Education : A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is often preferred. Candidate must have a Security+ Certification and must be able to attain an ITIL4 Certification within 4 months of Start Date .
