Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool RN requiring 2 years of Peds ICU experience and a South Carolina or Compact RN license.

Details

• Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool position within a children's hospital
• Floats within scope across all pediatric units including CVPICU, NICU, and PICU
• Patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:3
• Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 36 hours per week
• Required to work every other weekend
• Holiday rotation required
• Block scheduling may be accommodated pending manager approval and unit needs
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required
• BLS and PALS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience required
• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in emergency and anti-seizure medications, continuous sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Experience with pediatric dosage calculations required
• Proficient in BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Skilled in airway maintenance and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Experience managing chest tubes, central lines, implanted lines, and PICC lines
• ICP monitoring experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Knowledgeable in infection control, isolation precautions, and PPE use
• Social Security Number and Driver's License required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing support across multiple pediatric units based on facility needs
• First-time travelers with the required experience will be considered
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility to qualify for standard traveler rate, though local candidates may be considered case-by-case
• Previous MUSC permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off must be submitted at the time of application
• Facility may cancel up to 1 shift per 2-week period
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June through November, peaking in August and September), all staff may be assigned to emergency response duties
