The Financial Counselor, under the management of the VP for Patient Financial Services, is responsible for all

customer service and financial counseling-related inquiries for Palisades Medical Center at Hackensack Meridian

Health (HMH).

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

1. High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.

2. In-depth knowledge of third-party follow-up, reconciliation, billing, and other key areas of patient financial

services.

1. Exceptional customer care skills include active listening, compassion, critical thinking, verbal and written

communication skills, and exhibit a professional phone voice.

1. Strong time management and decision-making skills.

2. Experience in analysis of accounts in a hospital or physician environment.

3. Attention to detail.

4. Must be proficient with workflow/work queue systems, Patient Management systems, document Imaging,

PDF creators, Microsoft Office/Google, and website applications.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:

1. Bilingual (Spanish).

2. One or more years of experience with NJ Charity Care regulations, NJFC program and/or other related

financial assistance/counseling programs.

Contacts: Regular contact with patients, insurance companies, third-party intermediaries, the Office of Patient

Experience, Medical Center personnel, outside agencies, and visitors.

Minimum rate of $23.46 Hourly

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
