Maintenance WorkerWe're seeking experienced Maintenance Workers for an upcoming opportunity at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston. This role is ideal for dependable professionals with broad maintenance skills who enjoy hands-on work and supporting skilled trades.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and building-maintenance tasksAssist licensed trades with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairsPrepare materials, handle components, and complete basic repairs under supervisionInspect facility areas, identify deficiencies, and initiate work ordersMaintain tools, materials, shops, and work areas safelyDocument labor, materials, completed work, and trade assistanceFollow all VA, healthcare-facility, and safety requirementsQualificationsAt least 5 years of commercial or hospital trade experienceExperience with general building maintenance and inspectionsBasic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry knowledgeAbility to safely operate tools and assist licensed tradesAbility to follow instructions and select appropriate work methodsAccurate work-order and documentation skillsCurrent license when required for the work performedWhat's in It for You?Full-time contract opportunity with a potential additional option yearMeaningful work supporting a facility that serves VeteransMultiple potential shift optionsVaried, hands-on maintenance responsibilitiesOpportunity to work alongside experienced tradespeopleStructured and safety-focused environmentScheduleThe facility operates 24 hours a day.
