RN – Staff DevelopmentNavajo Area Indian Health Services administers health centers, and hospitals, providing health care to approximately 201,516 members of the Navajo Nation. The Navajo Nation is the largest Native tribe in the United States and has the largest reservation, which encompasses more than 25,516 square miles in northern Arizona, western New Mexico, and southern Utah, with three satellite communities in central New Mexico. The NAIHS is the primary provider of inpatient, ambulatory care, preventive and community health, and environmental health services for members of the Navajo Nation and the San Juan Southern Paiute Tribe. Explore the Navajo NationRequirements (Duties Include But Are Not Limited To)Coordinates all educational programs for licensed and unlicensed staff.Strives to meet the educational needs of staff within the Department of Nursing. Provides an annual calendar of educational activities for staff including educational needs identified by nursing leadership and all relevant quality improvement activities.Identifies essential competencies for licensed and non-licensed staff within the Department of Nursing and assures appropriate educational opportunities exist to promote the growth and the development of staff.Plans, delivers, and evaluated educational programs for licensed and non-licensed staff. Coordinates the Nursing Assistant Certification Program in accordance with state long-term care requirements as needed and/or coordinates the enrollment of qualified new hires into a suitable off-site alternative.Coordinates and actively participates in unit-based orientation of licensed and non-licensed staff within the Department of Nursing. Solicits involvement of unit staff as preceptors and mentors.Provides Preceptor/Mentor education programs as needed. Provides on-going support to Preceptors.Provides BLS, CPR, and First Aid education for direct care staff as required; offer optional training for all other employees.QualificationsCandidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision -OR- Possess of a bachelor's degree in Nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience-OR- Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursingMust possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.Must have a minimum of 12 months experience as a Staff Development RN during the last 36 months; Nursing Professional Development Certification a plusCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) is mandatory for all specialties.Evidence of current immunizations is required
