Math Teacher Sanford High School is located in York County in southern Maine, 45 minutes south of Portland, less than 2 hours north of Boston, and only 15 minutes from the ocean and the lakes region. The school serves over 1,100 students in grades nine through twelve and offers a comprehensive curriculum of approximately 150 courses and 25 Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Job Description Sanford High School is seeking a Math teacher who thrives working in a collaborative professional environment to teach math to high school students. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, the ability to facilitate group work, and experience using technology to enhance instruction. Responsibilities include teaching Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry at varied levels, with the opportunity to teach Calculus for the right candidate. The teacher should be comfortable using instructional platforms such as ALEKS and Reveal. Essential Functions Works collaboratively with colleagues to create engaging lessons for students. Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis. Creates a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for subject area, translating plans into learning experiences to develop sequential assignments and challenge students. Conducts ongoing assessments of student learning and progress, modifying instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including those with special needs; provides individual and small group instruction as needed. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Ensures student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, establishing standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
