A Payroll Lead manages and oversees the payroll function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while supervising and guiding the payroll team.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and train payroll staff including Payroll Administrators and Specialists, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure efficient operations.
• Oversee payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, deductions, and benefits.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies.
• Manage payroll systems such as ADP, SAP, or other HCM platforms, including system configurations and troubleshooting complex payroll issues.
• Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate payroll data delivery.
• Prepare reports for audits, financial reporting, and management, including payroll summaries, leave balances, and bonus calculations.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the payroll function.
• Act as the point of contact for escalated payroll inquiries and complex payroll exceptions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Education : Typically, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred; however, relevant experience may be considered in place of a degree.
• Experience : 3–7 years of payroll experience, with prior experience in a supervisory or lead role. Experience with Paycom is a plus.
• Technical Skills : Proficiency in payroll software, strong understanding of multi-state or international payroll regulations, and advanced Excel or reporting skills.
• Leadership and Communication : Ability to mentor staff, liaise with stakeholders, and communicate complex payroll information clearly.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills : Attention to detail and the ability to resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently.
