Project Safety Manager

That means we look out for one another, take pride in our work, and build strong relationships rooted in trust and respect.Guided by our core values of People, Team, Our Bond, Persistence, and Vision, we do what we say we will do, push through challenges, and deliver work we’re proud of.When you join Ames, you’re joining a company built for long-term success, where skilled people, strong teams, and disciplined execution come together to build careers and a better future.The Project Safety Manager will be responsible for oversight of the project safety disciplines and monitor day-to-day construction operations.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstill Safety as a top priority by monitoring and maintaining a safe work environment Implement and oversee the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and proceduresConduct training, including new hire orientation and safety meetingsMonitor all heavy construction work for compliance with safety requirementsMonitor and adhere to established budgetary guidelines, and ensure cost control measures are being followedEmbody the Ames approach to Safety, being constantly vigilant of conditions and work practices, being empowered to stop all unsafe workAssess risk management and investigate incidentsProvide and analyze project safety statisticsAssist Project Manager with project setupsCommunicate with client and subcontractorsCollaborate with regional safety teamOther duties as assigned.Experience, Education & SkillsFive plus (5+) years of experience in a construction safety supervisorial roleHighly knowledgeable in all aspects of civil constructionOSHA 500 or equivalent preferredDegree in Occupational Health and Safety preferredCertification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals preferredStrong communication skills both written and oralMust have a positive attitude and possess excellent motivational skillsWorking ConditionsLocation – This position is geographically located on the Platte Winner Bridge project in South Dakota. Subsequent projects are nationally based.Construction Site Environment – physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levelsOffice Environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionallyTotal RewardsPeople are the most important asset at Ames Construction.Base salary varies depending on many factors, including experience, skills, and knowledge.This role is eligible for a discretionary bonus.Ames offers generous retirement benefits, including Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP) participation and a 401k match.Ames' non-craft health benefits package is designed so that our team members flourish, with medical, dental, and vision (all at one low premium), voluntary benefits, company holidays, and paid time off.
