ICU RN

The ICU Registered Nurse on the Flex Team will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Neuro Critical Care Unit, Surgical ICU, and Intermediate Care Unit. This role involves managing complex cases such as sepsis, renal failure requiring CRRT/CVVH, post-cardiac arrest care, and respiratory failure. The nurse will collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced critical care environment. A minimum of one year ICU experience is required, with preference for MICU experience and strong critical care skills. Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients in Medical ICU, Neuro Critical Care, SICU, and IMC units.
• Manage patient care including assessment, monitoring, medication administration, and treatment interventions.
• Respond to high-acuity cases such as sepsis, ESRD, AKI requiring CRRT/CVVH, post-cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
• Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios (1:2 or 1:1 based on acuity).
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float flexibly between units as needed to support staffing and patient care demands.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Massachusetts.
• Minimum one year of experience in a Level 1 ICU; two years preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and patient management skills in ICU settings.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced critical care environment.

• Experience specifically in Medical ICU (MICU) preferred.
• Previous float pool or flex team experience in critical care settings.

• Position requires floating between multiple critical care units including MICU, SICU, Neuro Critical Care, and IMC.
• Candidate must be located outside a 90-mile radius from the facility.
• Preference for candidates with strong ICU backgrounds; new graduates with only one year ICU experience may be considered too new.
• Compliance with agency requirements including Massachusetts staffing license and insurance documentation is mandatory.

• Night shift position with flexible scheduling options including 48-hour contracts.
• Shift assignments are based on unit needs and staffing demands within the flex team model.
