Maintenance ManagerThe Maintenance Manager at the Mahrt paper mill in Cottonton, AL is responsible for the overall safety, environmental, quality, productivity and cost management of the maintenance department. The Maintenance Manager is also responsible for driving continuous improvement of mill operations to enable efficient, high-quality production of customer products. Key areas of responsibility include KPI monitoring & management, management and adherence to the Work Management Process, management of plant outages, maintenance cost analysis & improvement plans, 5-year major maintenance & capital planning, and overall maintenance and reliability improvement plans.Major Job Responsibilities:Business ExcellenceCreate Maintenance Department safety goals and plans to ensure a safe work environmentSupport and drive accident prevention and environmental excellenceParticipate in and promote continuous improvementResponsible for keeping maintenance personnel abreast of advancing technology in diagnostic techniques, repair procedures and preventative measures to assure optimum performance at minimum costProvide strategic leadership on maintenance operations to ensure maximum productionProvide leadership and coaching regarding all planning, scheduling and execution of routine and outage maintenance workProvide leadership and support to drive development of detailed asset strategies for improved asset reliability.Develop and implement short-term and long-term maintenance strategies to enable operating efficiency in alignment with Smurfit Westrock's valuesEnsure adherence to the established work management processCreate an effective Plant Maintenance Program using industry best practices to maximize equipment reliability and uptimeEnsure Root Cause Failure Analysis and troubleshooting techniques are used to solve repetitive equipment problemsManage and analyze maintenance department KPIs to assess operating efficiency and identify opportunities to drive performance excellenceMonitor and communicate departmental performance in Safety, Environmental, Reliability, and Cost effectivenessProvide guidance in the development of the maintenance business plan and forecastsLead maintenance staff to exceed industry standards and set new industry uptime and reliability standardsServe as a member of the Plant Leadership Team to align on Plant goals and standards and collaborate on organizational effectivenessNegotiate using win-win strategies on behalf of Smurfit Westrock with the Labor Union representatives on contract issuesPeople and CultureEnsure a safe work environment and adherence to all corporate, state and federal safety, health and environmental policies, procedures and regulations by all maintenance staffFoster a culture of care that promotes active participation and buy-in for safety and maintenance reliability from craftsmenEnsure maintenance staff is adequately trained and motivated to achieve departmental objectives in a safe, timely, and cost-effective mannerCritical Skills / Capabilities:Leadership: Leads and motivates a team of people to achieve performance excellence;
