Job Position: Dental Hygenist

Location: Muskegon, MI 49442

Pay Rate: $37.49/hr

Shift: Monday - Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm

Description:

We are seeking a skilled and professional Dental Hygienist (RDH) to provide preventative and therapeutic dental care services within a correctional healthcare setting. This role supports the dental team through oral examinations, prophylactic treatments, patient education, radiograph processing, and clinical assistance during dental procedures.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a structured, secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct oral examinations and perform dental prophylaxis procedures
• Polish teeth and remove plaque, stain, and calculus from tooth surfaces
• Perform scaling and root planning procedures as appropriate
• Provide oral health education, including:
  • Brushing and flossing techniques
  • Dental cleaning education
  • Proper oral medication use
• Expose and process dental radiographs, including:
  • Bitewing films
  • Periapical films
  • Related dental imaging procedures
• Identify potential tooth decay and oral disease concerns and report findings to the Dentist
• Assist the Dentist during restorative, surgical, and endodontic procedures
• Create, update, and maintain dental treatment charts, records, and appointment schedules
• Maintain infection control and sterilization standards
• Ensure accurate documentation and compliance with facility protocols

Qualifications

• Active Michigan Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility
• Strong knowledge of dental hygiene procedures and infection control practices
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work in a secure correctional healthcare environment

Work Environment

• Requires direct contact with incarcerated individuals
• Must follow strict safety, confidentiality, and healthcare protocols
