$25,000 Sign-on Bonus for External Candidates Job Title: Urgent Care Physician — Colonial Healthcare, part of the Optum family of businesses, is seeking a physician to join our team in Sumter, SC. Primary Responsibilities Provide direct patient care for a wide range of urgent medical conditions (sore throat, respiratory illness, rashes and skin infections, sprains and strains, fracture care, cuts, burns and others) Perform minor procedures and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X‑rays, EKGs, labs, CT scans, ultrasound, MRI, echocardiogram, PFT, urodynamic tests, and more) Develop and implement patient management plans, record progress notes, and assist in continuity of care. Communicate with patients regarding testing results, follow‑up care, and additional information. Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions. Refer patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Collaborate with advanced practice providers and clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care. Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record. Follow established policies, procedures, objectives, and recommended referral practices. Participate in facility in‑services, required training, recruiting, required staff meetings, and other clinic operations procedures. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold clinical best practices. Supervise advanced practice providers when appropriate and abide by all associated rules and regulations. Orient and train new practitioners when necessary. Direct and coordinate the patient care activities of support staff as required. Position Highlights Open 7 days per week M-F 7:30am–6pm Sat/Sun 7:30am–5pm Providers are required to work 13 shifts per month Clinician will work rotating shifts between Sumter and Manning, South Carolina Opportunity to work additional shifts for a predetermined stipend amount or in the primary care setting Required Qualifications M.D. or D.O. from an accredited School of Medicine Board certification in a specialty field (Emergency, Family or Internal Medicine preferred) Active, unrestricted license to practice medicine in South Carolina (or willingness to obtain) Active DEA license with no restrictions Ability to obtain ACLS & BLS certification within 90 days of employment Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel Preferred Qualifications Experience with EMR systems Solid knowledge of urgent care protocols and procedures Familiarity with OSHA and HIPAA regulations Commitment to quality, safety, and infection control standards The salary range for this role is $231,500 to $402,000 annually based on full‑time employment. Pay is based on several factors including local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and more. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
