Time: 7:30-4:00 pm Purpose Statement: The job of Summer School Elementary Program Administrator is done for the purpose of leading and overseeing the operation of the district's summer school program for K-5 students. This position involves providing strong leadership, managing program operations, coordinating staff, and ensuring the program runs efficiently and in alignment with the district's educational goals. The administrator will work closely with staff, community partners, parents, and students to deliver a high-quality, enriching educational experience that fosters student growth and achievement throughout the summer session. This job reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction or Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Essential Functions Program Management:
Oversee the planning, coordination, and implementation of the summer school program. Develop schedules and assign staff to meet the program's academic and extracurricular needs. Ensure that the curriculum and instructional plans align with district objectives and state requirements. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and educational regulations. Sustain and advance a commitment to District values, vision, and goals. Create an inclusive culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning for students and staff of all backgrounds. Collaborate with school and district leaders to seamlessly integrate all special populations. Be in the district at the program sites to supervise summer school prior to and after scheduled start and end times.
Staff Supervision and Support:
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise summer school staff, including teachers, support staff, and counselors. Conduct staff training and regular meetings with staff to discuss program updates, concerns, and feedback, in collaboration with the Summer School Leadership Team.
Review staff attendance and timesheets at the end of each week prior to payroll reconciliation. Ensure accurate discipline, attendance and academic records for the program.
Student Enrollment and Support: Manage student registration, ensuring accurate records and maintaining a positive enrollment experience for students and families. Provide guidance and support to students, ensuring they receive appropriate academic interventions. Track student progress, attendance, and achievement throughout the summer program. Meet with students and/or parents, when appropriate, to maintain summer school attendance requirements.
Maintain an emotionally healthy and physically safe environment for staff and students. Communication: Maintain open communication with staff, parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and program events. Work with the Summer Program Leadership Team and community stakeholders to ensure that the program meets the needs of students. Develop and distribute informational materials regarding the program, including handbooks, schedules, and policy guidelines. Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage the summer school budget, ensuring effective use of resources, in collaboration with the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning. Order materials and supplies necessary for the program. Ensure that all instructional resources are available and functioning for staff and students. Safety, Program Evaluation and Reporting:
Supervise school safety program; coordinate required drills to ensure compliance with regulations. Prepare summer school reports as required, including analyzing data student outcomes and program effectiveness with the School School Leadership Team. Provide a post-program evaluation to assess the success of the program and areas for improvement. Submit reports to district administration regarding program performance, including feedback from staff, students, and families. Working Environment
The administrator will be required to work up to 40 hours before staff training, full-time during the summer program, and up to 12 hours post program. Work outside of the regular work day includes weekly family events in the evening during the summer, and possible weekend work sessions prior to the start of the program. The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant one finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 5% sitting, 40% walking, and 55% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
B.S./B.A.
Valid and appropriate Oregon Teaching Certificate
Valid or ability to obtain Oregon Administrator License
Previous experience in educational administration or leadership.
Strong understanding of curriculum design, instructional practices, and educational policies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, staff, and parents.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications
