Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a floating pool position across various locations. Nurses must be adaptable and willing to work in multiple hospitals as needed. Candidates with no requested time off (RTO) are preferred.

Float Pool Locations

• Thornton (La Jolla, CA)
• Jacobs (La Jolla, CA)
• Hillcrest (San Diego, CA)
• East Campus (La Mesa, CA)

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Competency in the following clinical skills:
  
  
  • Arterial Lines (A-lines)
  • Phlebotomy
  • Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC Lines)
  • Chest Tubes
  • Ventilator management
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • IV Starts
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale are required.

Patient Population Expertise

Candidates should be experienced in caring for patients in the following areas:

• Cardiac
• Neuro
• General
• Stroke
• Medical
• Surgical
• Kidney
• Liver solid organ transplantation
• Trauma

Work Schedule

The RN will receive a 4-week schedule two weeks in advance. Scheduling will not allow for blocked or self-scheduling. Nurses will be notified by phone 2 hours prior to their shift about the specific facility they will work at.

Additional Information

• Flu vaccination is required; medical exemptions may be considered.
• Candidates must possess an active California state nursing license upon submission.
• References from two managerial contacts are required.
• Candidates may float within hospitals or to affiliate hospitals based on patient census and unit demands.

Compliance and Policies

• Previous charge nurse experience is preferred.
• Candidates need to comply with background policies prior to submission.
• Applicants must have been away for one year to qualify for rehire as a traveler.

Module Information

Modules are non-billable and up to 8 hours will be factored into the 12-hour shifts. Module completion occurs during orientation and annually, with hours varying by specialty.
