Position: Director, Data Governance & Strategy Location: Boston, MAJob Id: 471 # of Openings: 1 Geode Capital Management, LLC is seeking a highly motivated Director of Data Governance & Strategy to lead the development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of the firm's enterprise data governance program.Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director will lead the development and execution of Geode's enterprise data governance strategy and operating model. The Director will be responsible for establishing governance standards, strengthening data quality and accountability, and enabling a scalable and secure data ecosystem that supports business growth, operational excellence, innovation, and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in data governance and data management, strong leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders across business and technology functions.This position is based in Boston, Massachusetts. Consistent with Geode's hybrid work policy, employees are currently expected to work in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday. Geode reserves the right to modify this policy at any time.Key Responsibilities:Establish and oversee Geode's enterprise data governance framework, policies, standards, and operating model.Drive the inventory and classification of critical data assets to improve discoverability, usability, and accountability.Partner across business and technology teams to document and maintain end-to-end data flows, including data sourcing, transformation, and consumption processes.Design and implement a comprehensive data quality framework covering data accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, and timeliness.Optimize data acquisition and onboarding processes to accelerate business value and speed-to-market.Lead the implementation and ongoing management of enterprise data catalog capabilities.Oversee governance processes related to data retention, protection, access management, and data lifecycle management.Collaborate with Information Security, Compliance, Risk, and Legal teams to ensure adherence to applicable regulatory and privacy requirements.Develop standards for the evaluation and onboarding of new data sources and third-party data providers.Establish and lead governance forums across business domains.Foster a culture of data accountability and literacy throughout the organization.Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on data-related risks, opportunities, and emerging industry trends.Lead initiatives that improve confidence, transparency, and trust in enterprise data.Skills You Bring:Seasoned business leader with a strong technology acumen and demonstrated success leading data governance, data management, and data strategy initiatives within the asset management industry or broader financial services sector.Demonstrated success designing, implementing, and scaling enterprise data governance programs.Hands-on experience with data governance and catalog platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Ataccama, or similar solutions.Strong understanding of metadata management, master data management, and data quality frameworks.Experience developing governance practices in cloud-based data environments.Knowledge of financial services regulatory expectations, data privacy standards, cybersecurity principles, and risk management frameworks.Exceptional leadership, influence, and stakeholder management skills.Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectivelyStrategic thinker with an enterprise-wide perspective and a results-oriented mindset.Proven program management and execution capabilities.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.Highly motivated team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.Company Overview: Founded in 2001, Geode is headquartered in Boston’s financial district, the center of one of the world’s most vibrant finance and technology hubs and employs approximately 200 employees.Geode is an institutional asset manager providing core beta exposures across a range of equity and niche asset classes, with over $2 trillion.
