Ship Fitter This is a waterfront shipboard construction and re-modernization position, working within shipyards and drydocks onboard U.S. Naval ships. The incumbent will work in varying temperatures and perform the following tasks: Installs, maintains, repairs, overhauls, troubleshoots, modifies, constructs, and tests mechanical equipment and related devices. Troubleshoots and corrects structural placement. Makes recommendations for improvements or modifications to correct problems. May provide operation and maintenance instruction to customer personnel. Performs preventative maintenance. Participates in special projects, as required. Required Skills & Qualifications: Blueprint reading, metal fabrication, grinding, cutting (torch/plasma), welding knowledge. Experience with heavy machinery (plate rolls, presses) and hand/power tools. Strength, endurance, ability to work in confined spaces and outdoors. Associate's degree in a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education, certifications or training, or work experience. 1‑3 years of directly related experience supporting engineering operations. U.S. citizenship required. Education: Associate of Arts/Associate of Science (or equivalent technical degree). Location: On customer site in USA, WA Seattle (additional sites possible). Work Hours: 40 hours per week. Travel: 10‑25%. Compensation: Likely hourly rate $26.35 - $35.65, subject to experience and location. Benefits: 401(k) with company match.
