BARISTA

Overview The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other drinks to customers in a café, coffee shop, or similar establishment. They create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere while providing excellent customer service and ensuring the quality and consistency of beverages. Responsibilities Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, take orders, provide recommendations on coffee blends and brewing methods, and address questions or concerns in a professional manner. Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks (e.g., espresso, cappuccino, latte, macchiato) according to established recipes and standards; operate espresso machines and grinders safely and efficiently; ensure beverage quality and consistency. Food Preparation and Presentation: Prepare and serve light food items (pastries, sandwiches, snacks); maintain cleanliness and organization of the food prep area; ensure attractive presentation and appropriate packaging. Cash Handling and Sales: Handle cash, credit card transactions, and POS systems accurately; process orders promptly and provide correct change/receipts; upsell baked goods or specialty drinks to enhance sales and customer satisfaction. Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and sanitize equipment and surfaces; monitor inventory levels of beans, syrups, milk, and other supplies and restock as needed; maintain café cleanliness including seating areas and restrooms. Teamwork and Collaboration: Work with baristas, servers, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations; communicate with colleagues and supervisors; assist with training new baristas on beverages, service standards, and policies. Knowledge of coffee brewing methods, espresso machines, and drink recipes is a plus. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively. Attention to detail and a passion for high-quality beverages and service.
