Pre/Post Registered Nurse (RN), Ambulatory Surgery- Full-Time, Day

Join a world‑class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine Crown Point as a Pre‑Op/PACU Registered Nurse (RN) at the Ambulatory Surgery Center. This 100% onsite position is governed by the PACU Charge RN/Nurse Manager and focuses on pre‑admission, pre‑operative and post‑operative care of surgical patients. Essential Job Functions Collaborates closely with physicians to assess, design, coordinate, implement and evaluate the patients’ plan of care and outcomes. Demonstrates the necessary skills and knowledge to provide complex nursing skills and delegates tasks to other care team members according to unit‑specific competencies and patient age. Performs nursing duties and documents in electronic medical records. Participates in suite turnover/cleaning and patient transportation. Conducts pre‑admission screening calls, reviews medical history, provides patient instructions and performs post‑discharge phone calls. Maintains effective communication and a working relationship with patients, families, physicians, co‑workers, management and ancillary departments, and acts as a preceptor. Responsible for safe administration of medications and performing waived lab testing. Participates in huddles, staff meetings and checks email at least once a month. Performs other duties assigned. Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Current RN license in the state of Indiana. Active BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA). Preferred Qualifications Minimum 1 year of critical care nursing experience.
