Job Overview: RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical IV unit at the New Brunswick campus. Medical Surgical IV is an 31 bed Oncology Unit for non-oncological cases. All 31 beds are private rooms. In this unit, you will see a variety of med-surg and intermediate care cases. Qualifications: Required: ASN or Nursing Diploma At least 1 year of Registered Nurse experience Strong communication and organizational skills Proficient computer skills Preferred: BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire At least 1-3 years of Medical Surgical or Telemetry experience National Board Certification in Specialty Certifications and Licenses Required: BLS and ACLS certification Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License Scheduling Requirements: Night Shift,7pm -7:30am Monday – Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation Per Diem - 24 Hours Per Month Essential Functions: The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics. The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served. The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers. The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement. The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
