Job Description

As a Cutting Machine Operator, you safely set up and operate a Blanker Bobst cutting machine to produce high-quality products at targeted production speeds. You handle die changes efficiently, support smooth job setups, and maintain a clean, organized work area while collaborating closely with team members to resolve mechanical and production issues.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the Blanker Bobst cutting machine in a safe and efficient manner to meet quality standards and target production speeds.
• Change out dies as required for each job and complete make-ready activities within established time expectations.
• Stock the machine with required materials and supplies to ensure continuous operation and minimize downtime.
• Ensure all tools, dies, and related equipment are properly stored and organized after use.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues that arise during machine setup and operation, and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Collaborate with the Die Shop Assistant and other team members to coordinate job setups and resolve production or mechanical issues.
• Use machine downtime productively for upcoming job setup activities or to maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working around moving mechanical parts and operating cutting and packaging equipment.
• Monitor product quality during runs and make adjustments to machine settings as needed to maintain standards.
• Perform basic housekeeping tasks around the machine and work area to support a safe and efficient production environment.

Essential Skills

• Proven ability to safely set up and operate cutting machines, preferably Blanker Bobst or similar equipment, in a production environment.
• Experience with general machine operation in manufacturing, including inserter and packaging machines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues during setup and operation.
• Understanding of production workflows and the ability to work at target speeds while maintaining quality standards.
• Ability to follow detailed setup instructions and safety procedures consistently.
• Solid attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with Die Shop Assistants and other production staff.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Corrugated industry experience is a significant plus.
• Experience in general production or manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with packaging processes and equipment.
• Comfort working around moving mechanical parts with appropriate safety guards and personal protective equipment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a climate-controlled corrugated manufacturing facility with active production lines and moving mechanical parts protected by safety guards. You may be exposed to dust and loud noise, and eye and ear protection may be required. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to established procedures while working with cutting, inserter, and packaging machinery.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mansfield, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
