Hospice Care Consultant

Overview The Hospice Care Consultant (HCC) is responsible for modeling Compassus values—Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation—and promoting the Compassus philosophy using the 6 Pillars of Success. The HCC upholds the Code of Ethical Conduct and fosters positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and with external stakeholders. The HCC is responsible for growing Compassus' market share within a defined Book of Business to help more patients receive hospice care. This role focuses on growing hospice admissions by building relationships with healthcare providers, identifying eligible patients, and ensuring timely and appropriate admissions. The ideal candidate is motivated to achieve growth objectives, comfortable navigating emotional conversations, and capable of working professionally and compassionately in sensitive situations. Company: Compassus Position Specific Responsibilities Drive growth within the assigned book of business by opening new accounts and expanding existing accounts. Leverage Compassus-provided tools to identify opportunities through market analysis. Secure referrals from physicians, staff, and administrators and partner with the operations team to ensure clinically-eligible patients are rapidly admitted. Meet or exceed weekly performance goals and grow productivity in line with tenure-based company expectations. Cultivate and manage trust-based relationships with referral sources using a personal, needs-based consultative sales approach. Demonstrate compassion and empathy to patients and families; maintain resilience in the emotional environment of hospice care. Prioritize the patient and be available outside standard business hours (evenings and weekends) to ensure timely support and service when needed. Seek feedback from referral sources on service levels and responsiveness; relay insights to the operations team and facilitate necessary changes. Demonstrate adaptability and openness to change in response to business priorities, team structure, and market dynamics. Provide clinical training and education to referral partners to improve understanding of hospice care. Education And/or Experience Bachelor's degree in Business strongly preferred. Five (5) or more years of successful sales experience in relevant roles. Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales goals and growing new accounts. Excellent customer relationship management skills that drive growth in long-standing accounts. Experience in Hospice, Home Health, or Healthcare industry preferred; top-performing sales professionals who understand hospice care are encouraged to apply. Skills Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic arithmetic and compute rate, ratio, and percentage. Language Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders within assigned accounts; ability to read, analyze, and interpret business materials; ability to write reports and present information clearly. Other Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in English; articulates hospice philosophy; ability to adapt to changes; effectively manage accounts and drive utilization; strong clinical knowledge to engage physicians, clinical staff, nurses, and managers; professional presence with external and internal stakeholders. Physical Demands and Work Environment The role requires regular standing, walking, manual dexterity, and the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity includes close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Accommodations can be made for disabilities.
