Certified Optician – VA Medical Center Location: Clarksburg, WV (Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center) Position Type: Full-Time (2 FTE available) Position Overview We are seeking two (2) professional, certified, and detail-oriented Opticians to provide exceptional optician support services for our federal client at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, WV. The ideal candidates will possess excellent patient-care skills, a strong technical background in ophthalmic optics, and the ability to navigate federal healthcare compliance and credentialing processes efficiently. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Consultation: Fit, measure, adjust, and dispense eyeglasses and other ophthalmic devices to veterans in accordance with prescriptions issued by ophthalmologists and optometrists. Technical Measurements: Measure pupillary distance, vertex distance, corneal curvature, and segment heights accurately to ensure proper lens placement. Procurement & Quality Assurance: Assist patients with frame selection, verify completed lens orders against original prescriptions using a lensometer, and manage inventory/ordering systems as required. Compliance & Documentation: Maintain strict adherence to Department of Veterans Affairs regulations, HIPAA guidelines, and standard operating procedures for federal healthcare facilities. Administrative Support: Coordinate with clinic staff to manage patient flow, schedule fittings, and ensure accurate record-keeping within the VA’s electronic health record systems. Qualifications & Requirements Certification: Current certification by the American Board of Opticianry (ABO) is highly preferred/required based on strict contract guidelines. Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of clinical experience as an optician. Prior experience working within a VA Medical Center, Department of Defense (DoD) facility, or federal healthcare environment is a significant plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency with digital lensometers, pupilometers, and frame-repair tools. Comfort learning and using proprietary federal healthcare software. Soft Skills: Outstanding communication, empathy for the veteran population, and a high degree of professional adaptability. Vetting: Must be a U.S. citizen and capable of passing a comprehensive federal background investigation (Public Trust) including fingerprinting, credentialing verification, and a drug screening. #J-18808-Ljbffr Forte Human Capital Inc.
