Director of Finance

Summary Director of Finance reports to the General Manager and performs an exempt salaried role under FLSA. The position is based in Shreveport, Louisiana, and is responsible for financial management, budgeting, accounting and payroll in compliance with state, federal and ASM Global policies. Responsibilities Assist in the development and implementation of facility financial goals and priorities. Monitor ASM Global compliance with all financial provisions of the management contract. Review and prepare event settlements. Execute checks and deposits; review daily cash receipts and disbursements. Monitor and project daily cash flow; invest excess cash via sweep account. Prepare financial statements for the Client and ASM Global Corporate, and other reports including monthly statements, Annual Budget, and Annual Report. Direct installation and maintenance of accounting records to document receipts and expenditures. Direct maintenance of general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, revenue distribution, depreciation, cost, property, operating expenses and insurance records. Prepare statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues. Direct internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls. Coordinate preparation of Client or external audit materials and financial reporting; implement recommendations. Coordinate year‑end report of fiscal performance for the General Manager’s report. Direct implementation of new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, property, and other procedures. Manage the Finance and Box Office departments, providing overall direction, coordination, and evaluation. Perform supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees in partnership with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Maintain safe, secure, sanitized working conditions and leave the work area orderly. Abide by SMG policies in the Human Resources Manual, the Business Code of Conduct, and Cash Handling Procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills Required Work independently with judgment and initiative under minimal supervision. Maintain effective working relationships with employees and others encountered through the course of employment. Operate standard office equipment and personal computers using MS‑DOS, Windows, Excel, Outlook, Word, E‑Time software, and Peachtree accounting software. Work effectively under pressure and stringent schedules to produce accurate results. Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Education and Experience B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a 4‑year college/university or equivalent. Minimum 5–7 years of related work experience. Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures as well as financial systems and controls. Capability to handle all aspects of the accounting cycle and principles and techniques of venue operation. Experience using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience in the convention center industry (preferred, not required). Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older. Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to pass a background check, including a credit history report, and meet corporate minimum requirements. Working Conditions Requires flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays, in addition to normal business hours. Physical requirements include walking, stooping, lifting up to 30 lbs and standing for extended periods.
