Salary Range: $70,000 – $100,000 DOE Reports to: Drafting Manager FLSA Exemption: Exempt/Salaried Job Description As part of the drafting team, a Residential Drafter collaborates with the drafting team to maintain the base plan library, assist with new product development, and process documentation for new inventory homes, both townhomes and single‑family detached homes. Drafters must be able to work on multiple projects at once, prioritize, and ensure all assigned timelines are met. Primary Duties Prepare and maintain thorough and accurate working drawings for lot starts. All plans must be checked to ensure the most recent update information has been applied. Monitor schedules, ensure all work is completed within established timelines at the expected level of quality, and maintain internal tracking systems which report to other departments. Self‑redline plan sets before hand‑off to management review or next users. Update lot‑specific plans and basement plans per city corrections, returning to the city within 24 hours. Visit the field regularly to walk new product and homes under construction. Coordinate with superintendents and trades to solicit feedback on plans and details and request ways drafting can make the plans better and more efficient. Apply fixes received from superintendents, purchasing or sales or jurisdictions to plan templates and lot starts that have been drawn or released to construction. Draft templates, plans, and options per the direction of the drafting manager. All plans should be efficient, well‑designed, accurate, and follow current IRC and city codes. Drafters should be aware of all internal standards to maintain consistency and provide efficiency in a production environment. Qualified applicants must have experience in residential drafting with efficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. Experience & Skills Drafting degree or equivalent on‑the‑job experience with residential plans in a production environment. 3‑5 years residential home drafting experience preferred. Direct use of and proficiency using Autodesk AutoCAD and Revit. Experience and understanding with compiling construction documents for residential construction. Knowledge of and or experience with compiling residential drawing packages that incorporate standard and internal requirements. A drafter should be open to feedback in plan design, best practices, and changes to processes and standards. Successful candidates should be pro‑active, very organized and focused on precision & accuracy. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs in/around construction site, apartment homes, models, and properties. Must have the ability to read and comprehend large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 25 lbs. independently. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about office setting. To perform other duties as required.
