Overview The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient-centered 100% (40 hours a week) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work at our UICC Neurology Clinic. This position will mainly support the Neurology Clinic but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations based on clinical needs/hours. Our Neurology Clinic provides consultation services, evaluations, diagnosis, and treatments for adult patients with a broad spectrum of disorders affecting the nervous system. Our general neurologists are committed to providing specialized care with a generalist perspective, ensuring an innovative, effective, and personalized approach, and diagnosis and treatment of a wide variety of neurological conditions. Patients with any neurologic problem, uncertain about their neurological condition, experiencing neurological symptoms, or needing a neurological evaluation may receive care in the general neurology outpatient clinic. This position also includes FREE on-site parking. Duties Provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. Participates in the development of nursing care plans and in the implementation of therapeutic programs for patients. In less complex situations, may assume responsibility for directing and supervising assigned nursing personnel; in more complex situations, performs as an assistant to the registered professional nurse. Current valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards. Pay and Schedule Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week) Schedule: Monday – Friday, variable from 7:45 AM – 5:00 PM, with a one-hour lunch. No weekends, on-call time, or holidays required. Location: Iowa City, IA (or surround clinics based on clinical need or hours) Pay Grade: 11 Salary: $45,455.76 - $67,713.84 (at 100% time) Hourly: $21.77 - $32.43 (based on years of experience) Minimum Eligibility Requirements Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the Iowa Board of Nursing, or eligible for temporary work permit. Responsible to take the required continuing education hours to maintain a valid LPN certification Basic Cardiac Life Support provider Special Qualification/License Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Highly Desirable Qualifications The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired. Desirable Qualifications Previous Epic experience Previous Neurology clinic experience One year of experience as a Medical Assistant Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
