Job Title: Teller Summary / Objectives A Teller has the responsibility to take ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the operation of their assigned position. Responsibilities Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the SouthState Bank Service Standards. Know and understand the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts, features, benefits, regulations, and price structure. Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues and seek opportunities to expand relationships through referrals as outlined in the position goals. Maintain a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy. Assess and manage risks associated with the job function, ensuring compliance with all banking regulations, including RegulationCC and the Bank Secrecy Act. Develop a strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and enroll customers in self‑service options. Process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts. Maintain a neat and orderly work area. Assists in guiding and training new tellers. Provide customers access to safe deposit boxes (if authorized). Cash checks and process savings withdrawals within assigned limits and prescribed procedures. Sell certified checks within assigned limits. Balance transactions daily. Service or balance ATM (if required). Utilize the branch capture system when applicable. Follow policies and procedures to minimize operational errors and maintain proper workflow. Follow the branch’s security and audit procedures and understand the operation of security devices. Position Level Teller1 – entry‑level position requiring up to 18 months of teller duties experience. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Experience: Cash handling, sales, and customer service. Previous banking experience preferred. Knowledge: Good interpersonal and computer skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers. Work Environment Position most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation. Facility cooled and heated. Travel may be required to attend meetings or training as needed.
