Monte Bonita LLC Home Care Aide Caregiver La Mesa, CA 91942 - $19.00 - $23.00 / hour - full time Job Description 1 Purpose This job description establishes the duties, qualifications, essential functions, professional standards, limitations, supervision, and compensation framework for Home Care Aides/Caregivers employed by Monte Bonita LLC. It is intended to protect consumer safety and dignity, define the non-medical scope of the position, and provide clear employment expectations. 2 Position summary The Home Care Aide/Caregiver provides authorized non-medical assistance to consumers in private residences and, when authorized, other community settings. Consumers may require assistance because of age, disability, illness, injury, mobility limitations, cognitive limitations, or other functional needs. Caregivers frequently work independently and must demonstrate patience, compassion, respect, reliability, sound judgment, honesty, attentiveness, and professional communication. Services must follow the consumer's service plan, assigned duties, caregiver training, Company policy, and applicable law. 3 Compensation Pay range: $19.00-$23.00 per hour. The exact starting rate will be communicated in the employee's written offer and applicable wage notice. Placement within the range may consider relevant caregiving experience, training, active certifications, availability, driving responsibilities, assignment requirements, and other lawful job-related factors. The stated range does not guarantee the highest rate, a future increase, a particular number of hours, or a particular assignment. Any pay-rate change must be confirmed through authorized Company documentation. Employees will receive all compensation required by applicable law, must accurately record all hours worked, and may not perform off-the-clock work. Approved business mileage, required personal-phone use for WellSky, and other necessary job expenses will be reimbursed or covered according to applicable Company policy and law. Overtime and other wage-and-hour requirements will be administered according to actual duties, work location, applicable classification, and governing law. 4 Duties and responsibilities 4.1 Personal care and activities of daily living Assist with bathing, showering, grooming, dressing, oral hygiene, hair care, shaving, toileting, incontinence care, and other authorized personal-care activities. Protect consumer privacy, dignity, comfort, and preferences while encouraging independence when safe and appropriate. Assist with eating and feeding when authorized; observe and report significant concerns without independently diagnosing a medical condition. 4.2 Mobility ambulation and transfers Assist with walking, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, position changes, and getting into or out of beds and chairs when assigned and trained. Use safe body mechanics and approved transfer methods or equipment. Do not attempt a lift or transfer that exceeds training, safe physical ability, available equipment, or required staffing. Contact Monte Bonita LLC for guidance or assistance. 4.3 Meals household assistance and errands Plan and prepare meals or snacks, assist with grocery lists, serve meals, assist with eating, and clean food-preparation areas. Follow authorized dietary instructions but do not independently prescribe or materially change a medical diet. Perform authorized light housekeeping in consumer-used areas, including dishes, light sweeping or vacuuming, light dusting, laundry, bed linens, and ordinary trash. Complete authorized grocery shopping, errands, household organization, and appointment accompaniment. Do not perform deep cleaning, construction, landscaping, heavy maintenance, move heavy furniture, climb on ladders or furniture, or perform other duties outside the authorized assignment. 4.4 Companionship supervision and independence Provide conversation, reading, games, walks, hobbies, social interaction, community activities, supervision, and safety monitoring as assigned. Remain attentive and responsive throughout working time; personal phone use, sleeping, entertainment, visitors, or personal business must not interfere with consumer care. Support consumer independence rather than performing tasks the consumer can safely complete when consistent with the service plan. 4.5 Medication reminders Caregivers may provide authorized verbal reminders or other legally permitted non-medical assistance. Caregivers may not independently diagnose, prescribe, change medication instructions, administer medication outside their lawful role, or perform unauthorized skilled nursing procedures. 5 Documentation timekeeping and communication Clock in and out accurately and report all time worked through WellSky or another authorized system. Complete required service records, notes, task documentation, mileage records, and incident reports accurately, timely, and honestly. Never falsify time, services, observations, signatures, expenses, or Company records; never ask another person to clock in or out on the caregiver's behalf. Promptly report technical problems that prevent accurate use of WellSky or another required system. Communicate significant information affecting safety, consumer condition, scheduling, assigned services, incomplete duties, complaints, incidents, or conflicting instructions. Respond within a reasonable period to legitimate work-related communications and follow Company scheduling and call-off procedures. 6 Safety emergencies and reporting Follow applicable safety, infection-control, emergency, and fall-prevention procedures. Use equipment only when trained and authorized; report unsafe equipment, hazards, workplace injuries, animal risks, exposure incidents, threats, or violence. In an emergency, contact 911 or the appropriate emergency authority first when immediate assistance is required, then notify Monte Bonita LLC as soon as reasonably possible. Report falls, injuries, sudden confusion, significant behavioral or mobility changes, eating or drinking concerns, environmental hazards, and other material changes in a consumer's condition. Follow all mandated-reporter duties. Internal notification to Monte Bonita LLC does not replace a legally required external report of suspected abuse, neglect, abandonment, or exploitation. 7 Transportation when authorized Transport or accompany a consumer only when the service plan and Monte Bonita LLC authorize it. Maintain a valid driver's license, legally required automobile insurance, vehicle registration, a reasonably safe vehicle, and any Company-required driving qualifications. Follow traffic laws, seat-belt and restraint requirements, distracted-driving rules, and Company transportation procedures. Report accidents, citations, license restrictions, insurance lapses, or other changes that may affect driving eligibility. Driving is not an essential function of every caregiver assignment. Requirements will be applied according to the actual position and assignment. 8 Confidentiality consumer property and boundaries Protect consumer health, financial, identifying, scheduling, address, security, and other confidential information. Do not photograph, record, post about, or disclose a consumer or the consumer's home without lawful authorization. Do not steal, borrow, solicit, exploit, misuse property, conduct personal business, accept inappropriate gifts, or enter unauthorized financial, romantic, sexual, or private employment arrangements with consumers. Use consumer funds only when expressly authorized, obtain receipts, document purchases, and return all change and unused funds. At least 18 years of age and able to satisfy lawful employment-authorization requirements. Active California Home Care Aide registration and PER ID/HCA ID when required for the assignment. Required CDSS/CPMB criminal-background eligibility, fingerprinting/Live Scan, Guardian association, clearance, approved exemption, or qualifying transfer. Current tuberculosis screening or examination documentation that satisfies applicable California requirements. Ability to communicate sufficiently to understand instructions, report observations and emergencies, complete documentation, and interact professionally. Ability to use a smartphone and WellSky or another authorized system for timekeeping, scheduling, communication, and documentation. Reliable transportation to assigned consumer locations. Driving credentials are required when driving is part of the assignment. Ability to provide accurate employment history, professional references, and represented certifications. 10 Experience and certifications Prior professional caregiving experience is preferred and may be required for assignments involving higher levels of personal care, mobility support, cognitive limitations, dementia, behavioral needs, or other specialized circumstances. Relevant experience may include home care, personal caregiving, assisted living, skilled nursing environments, CNA, HHA, or companion care. Depending on the assignment, Monte Bonita LLC may require or prefer current CPR, First Aid, CNA, HHA, or other job-related certifications. Employees must not misrepresent credentials and must promptly report an expiration, suspension, restriction, or revocation affecting a required qualification. 11 Training and competency Complete all required entry-level, annual, safety, mandated-reporter, infection-control, consumer-specific, and assignment-specific training. Apply required training consistently and request clarification or additional instruction before attempting an unfamiliar or potentially unsafe task. Maintain competency for assigned duties and cooperate with lawful Company procedures needed to verify continuing qualifications. Complete annual dementia-care training when required by applicable law or Company policy. 12 Conditions before consumer placement No applicant or employee may begin providing consumer services until Monte Bonita LLC confirms completion of all legally required and Company-required conditions. Employment or placement may be delayed or a conditional offer may be withdrawn when a required qualification, clearance, registration, training, or document is not completed or cannot be verified, subject to applicable law. 13 Standards of performance Caregivers must provide services competently, safely, consistently, and professionally. Technical ability alone is not sufficient. The position also requires patience, compassion, empathy, respect, reliability, honesty, appropriate boundaries, and responsible communication. Treat consumers with dignity and courtesy, including when a consumer is anxious, resistant, frustrated, confused, or experiencing cognitive or physical limitations. Respect lawful consumer preferences while following safety requirements, the service plan, and Company instructions. Never humiliate, ridicule, threaten, intimidate, discriminate against, harass, punish, exploit, neglect, or use unnecessary force against a consumer. Complete assigned duties thoroughly and promptly report any material task that could not be completed. Protect consumer property and confidential information and maintain professional boundaries at all times. Ask questions when instructions are unclear and report any task that is unsafe, unauthorized, beyond training, or beyond safe physical ability. 14 Attendance punctuality and availability Report to accepted assignments on time, prepared to work, and remain for the authorized duration unless otherwise directed. Promptly follow call-off, lateness, time-off, schedule-change, and missed-shift procedures. Do not abandon a consumer or leave an assignment without authorization except when immediate safety requires leaving and appropriate notice is provided as soon as possible. Maintain accurate availability and communicate changes that affect the ability to accept or complete an assignment. 15 Professional appearance and conduct Maintain reasonable personal hygiene and wear clean clothing and safe footwear appropriate for assigned duties. Use respectful language and maintain calm, professional communication with consumers, families, coworkers, supervisors, and office personnel. Do not report to work impaired or engage in conduct that creates an unnecessary safety risk or materially interferes with services. Do not bring unauthorized visitors, substitute caregivers, children, or animals to an assignment. 16 Supervision and authority The caregiver works under the general direction of authorized Monte Bonita LLC management, which may include an Administrator, Manager, Care Coordinator, Staffing or Scheduling Coordinator, Supervisor, or other authorized representative. Consumers and family members may communicate preferences and day-to-day information but may not independently authorize substantial additional work, change employment terms, or direct the caregiver to violate the service plan or Company policy. Caregivers have no authority to hire substitutes, supervise other employees, make contracts for Monte Bonita LLC, change a consumer's medical treatment, or independently modify the service arrangement unless expressly authorized in writing. 17 Essential functions and physical requirements Essential functions vary by consumer assignment. A qualified applicant or employee must be able to perform the essential functions applicable to the assigned position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, reach, kneel, and move safely within a consumer's residence for the frequency and duration required by the assignment. Safely carry ordinary household or caregiving items weighing up to approximately 25 pounds when this function is required by the assignment. Assist with ambulation, position changes, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and transfers using approved methods and equipment when trained and assigned. Travel reliably to consumer residences, remain attentive during working time, communicate effectively, complete documentation, and respond appropriately to emergencies. Perform light household tasks, meal preparation, personal care, and other authorized activities of daily living. Lifting a consumer is not an automatic requirement. Client transfers and other physical functions will be evaluated according to consumer needs, task frequency, training, safety, equipment, staffing, and the caregiver's safe physical ability. A caregiver must not independently attempt a lift or transfer that creates an unreasonable safety risk. 18 Reasonable accommodation Monte Bonita LLC will comply with applicable federal and California reasonable‑accommodation requirements. The Company will engage in the legally required interactive process when applicable. 19 Personal attendant and wage classification The job title alone does not determine wage‑and‑hour classification. Classification depends on actual duties, the amount of time devoted to particular duties, the work location, applicable California Wage Orders, and governing law. Caregivers must accurately record assigned duties and notify Monte Bonita LLC when substantial time is spent on housekeeping or other work beyond direct personal‑attendant functions. Meal periods, rest periods, overtime, travel time, reporting‑time pay, expense reimbursement, and other compensation requirements will be administered according to the employee's actual work and applicable law. Nothing in this job description waives any right that cannot lawfully be waived. 20 Assignments schedules and changes This general job description does not guarantee a particular consumer, location, schedule, shift, minimum number of hours, duration of assignment, or future assignment. Consumer needs and lawful operational requirements may change. Monte Bonita LLC may modify duties or make temporary assignments that are consistent with the employee's lawful role, training, safety, and applicable employment requirements. 21 At will employment Unless otherwise provided in an authorized written agreement, employment with Monte Bonita LLC is at will to the fullest extent permitted by California law. Either the employee or Monte Bonita LLC may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without advance notice and with or without cause, subject to applicable law.
